Meetings

Letter-writing sessions

Every Wednesday 12 – 2 in room 2, level 5, Wentworth Building.  These sessions are open to absolutely everybody.  Every session we choose an “Urgent Action” case sent to us from Amnesty International Australia – these are the cases which AI deems most important and always involve a serious threat to the life, well-being or security of an individual somewhere in the world.  Everyone writes a short letter to the appropriate government official calling for the situation to be immediately released.  It literally only takes 10 minutes to write a letter, and you could save someone’s life, so drop in!  More info on letter-writing here (from AI Australia’s page).

Group meetings

Every Thursday 1 – 2 in Holme Common Room.  These meetings are open to all members and to those intending to become members.  We use this time to discuss current human rights issues and plan our campaigns.  This is the time when you can raise issues that you think are important and suggest ideas for group activities.  We also invite guest speakers from time to time.
