If you are interested in becoming a member of Amnesty International, please read the following: (the instruction may seems to be U.S.-centric, but most of the inquiries we get ARE from people living in the United States.)

People become members of Amnesty International in two ways.

(1) Some people want to make financial contribution to Amnesty but have no time to spare for the organization. If you live in the U.S., you can become contributing members of Amnesty by calling 1-800-AMNESTY or visiting the web page

Join our Movement

If you live outside the USA, you should contact the Amnesty Section (National Office) in your country - see

http://www.amnesty.org/en/about-us/contact

for contact information.

(2) Those who want to be involved through personal actions become Amnesty volunteers. Most volunteers are members of school or community chapters of Amnesty International. If you live in the USA, you can check the web page

https://www.amnestyusa.org/take-action/volunteer/

Here you will be able to find volunteer opportunities. To find the Amnesty chapter nearest to you https://www.amnestyusa.org/take-action/find-a-group/. If no Amnesty chapter is close to you, you can join some of the online letter-writing network such as Urgent Action Network, where you get requests for letter-writing actions by electronic mail. For information on the networks, see

Urgent Action Network

Thank you for your interest in Amnesty International.
