Past Events 1997 to 1998
November 1997: Guatemala tea and coffee afternoon at St. Helen's Church. We fed our visitors with lots of homemade goodies and sold arts and crafts from Guatemala, including Christmas cards and Friendship Bracelets designed and made by Guatemal tecan street children at Casa Alianza - a charity offering the children shelter, food and education.
27th February 1998: Ceilidh in the Langside Hall (Queen's Park) with the Hallanshankers Ceilidh Band. A great night out for everyone involved. The band got the hall vibrating and as in previous years, this main fundraising event of the year was a great success for both Amnesty International and everyone who came along.
13th June: Info-stall and opportunity to Get up Sign up for Human Rights at the Frank McGuinness play "Someone Who'll watch over me" at the Arches Theatre.
2nd July: Fundraising collection at one concert of the Glasgow Jazz Festival to raise money for our group's work.
1st August: information stall at the Pollok Park Family Fair where we sold Guatemalan crafts.
13th August: We took part and helped at the annual Amnesty International Road Show in Glasgow's George Square.
21st November: Flag Day collection for AI outside Shawlands Arcade.
