Experts on Burma and Burmese Refugees To Speak
A program on socially responsible investing and corporate responsibility
in
a global economy, with a focus on the human rights crisis in Burma.
Monday,
March 12, at 7:30 pm, in the Parish House behind the First Unitarian
Church,
One Benevolent Street, at the corner of Benefit Street. The event
is free and the public is invited.
Speakers to include:

Simon Billenness, a senior analyst with Trillium Asset Management Corp.,
in Boston, and coordinator of the New England Burma Roundtable. Mr.
Billenness is a primary originator and promoter of the "Massachusetts Free
Burma Bill."
- Dr. Christina Fink is a cultural anthropologist who has extensive
experience on Burma. She has worked in Thailand, running Burma-Net news
and
monitoring grants to Burmese pro-democracy groups. In 1998, she was
awarded
an Open Society Institute Individual Project Fellowship to research and
write a book about Burma. Her book, "Living Silence: Burma under Military
Rule," is about to be released.
- Aye Aye Mon and Myint Aung, recent refugees from Burma.
