Amnesty International Local Group #642 was formed in early 2003 after a successful Human Rights Film Festival was organized by Amnesty activists from Duluth, Minnesota. The Film Festival was used to educate the Duluth, Minnesota and Superior, Wisconsin area about human rights issues and concerns as well as to recruit members for a new AI Local Group. The response was wonderful and Group #642 was chartered in October 2003 and now has over seventy members.
