Get involved in a community group!
There are many different ways to get involved in Amnesty International and human rights work. Numerous local Community Groups and Student Groups exist in the Southern California area which are engaged in addressing a wide range of human-rights issues around the world, and which also offer a context for pursuing one’s own specific interests and concerns.
Amnesty International is a grass roots human rights organization, and much of its most important work is done by local groups of volunteers. They work on behalf of individual prisoners, participate in national or international campaigns focused on specific countries or human rights abuses, and work to raise awareness of and support for human rights in their local community.
Community groups are usually made of adult volunteers who meet in the evenings. Typical meeting frequency is once or twice a month.
This page provides links to information and web sites for community groups in Southern California.
Click on the name of a group to go directly to its page. If the community group has its own site, the link will take you directly to their home page.
For groups with no link, or for any other information on how to get involved, call the western regional office.
Please note that we are currently working with the western office and the community groups to make this list as accurate as possible.
