<p class="MsoNormal"<em<strongOver 200</strong</em<strong St. Louis activists joined together to protest</strong the arrival of disgraced Attorney General Alberto Gonzales who came to St. Louis February 19th to give a paid talk ($30,000) at Washington University.&nbsp; Amnesty International joined with student groups from Washington University, Webster, UMSL, SLU, and local community organizations like the ACLU, Instead of War, Code Pink, WILPF, CTSA, and other St. Louis area groups to demand that we:&nbsp;<u1:p&nbsp;<strong<u1:p<span</span</u1:pClose Guant&aacute;namo! Denounce Torture! Restore Habeas!&nbsp; </strong</u1:p<u2:p</u2:p<o:p</o:p</p
<p class="MsoNormal"<u1:p</u1:p&nbsp;<u1:pProtesters were loud and spirited and were visible not only to the crowd entering the speaking venue, but to traffic and University City as well.&nbsp; <strongProtesters chanted throughout the night</strong and many braved the cold and stayed for hours.&nbsp; Even as people <emleft</em the event hours later, protester were there to greet them!&nbsp; Speakers from Stop Torture Now, North Carolina; the ACLU; and the Wash U Young Dems spoke early in the evening to protesters, and there was street theater provided by CTSA, and a student band that played throughout the night to keep protesters spirits high!</u1:p</p
