Background on Our Chapter

Founded in 1961, Amnesty International is a Nobel Prize winning grassroots activist organization with over one-million members world wide.

Takoma Park's local AI group has been active since 1982. At present we are working as part of the AI regional action network on human rights issues in South America. In February 2000 we met with Congressman Al Wynn to urge him to join the Congressional Human Rights Caucus, which he has since done. Find out more about what we're doing.
