Eleven years ago I served as AIUSA's Chair of the Board. I was then and remain dedicated now to an open leadership process wherein all members and activists know that their input and their efforts are sought after and appreciated.

At this critical time in AIUSA's history, I seek to join the Board as a member of the REFORM slate with Steve Abrams, Govind Acharya, Phyllis Pautrat, Magdaleno Rose-Avila and Paul Schulte. AI is moving toward broad issue-oriented campaigning, but we on the REFORM slate are committed to an AIUSA that maintains its unique focus on individual victims of human rights abuses, especially human rights defenders and prisoners of conscience. Please visit http://www.amnesty-volunteer/usa/reform/platform.html for our full platform.

Human Rights Activities

I have traveled extensively throughout the world to meet with human rights activists, government officials, and non-governmental organization representatives. I have worked to advance human rights for women, children, gay men and lesbians, indigenous persons, journalists, healthcare professionals, torture survivors, prisoners of conscience, and human rights defenders, all of whom are under non-stop assault by governments.

I will bring to the Board constant energy and an unyielding commitment to the improvement of human rights in the United States and the world.
